Alaska Marine Excavation LLC (AKMX) is a licensed General Contractor based out of Anchor Point, Alaska. AKMX is dedicated to high-quality material crushing and dredging services throughout Alaska and the Lower 48. All of our crushing and dredging equipment is vastly portable and capable of being mobilized to even the most remote areas of Alaska or even worldwide. AKMX is compiled of a dedicated group of employees who have 40+ years combined experience in material crushing and 50+ years combined experience in hydraulic dredging. AKMX continues to maintain a performance record that exhibits the company’s ability to organize and execute projects efficiently, per specification and on schedule. AKMX also prides itself on an excellent safety record, with no reportable accidents or injuries to date.

AKMX has been contracting work in remote areas of Alaska since 2010. The owners of AKMX and the majority of its employees are all native to Anchor Point, Alaska, a small community on the Kenai Peninsula with a population of 1,930 (2010 census). Contracts obtained by AKMX have been performed in Homer, Nome, Dillingham, Ninilchik, McGrath, Chenega Bay, Old Harbor and various points along the Dalton Highway. AKMX has the necessary means for mobing and demobing equipment anywhere on or off the road system. AKMX and its employees have a notable reputation with the local vendors of these communities as well as local government authorities.

Alaska Marine Excavation LLC (AKMX) was founded in 2009 by Cam, Brok and Cap Shafer, all co-owners of Dibble Creek Rock Ltd (DCR). Building on the foundation that DCR has provided, the focus of AKMX has mainly been government contracts including general excavation, contract dredging and material crushing/production. AKMX is licensed as a General Contractor and is currently bonded for $10M. Dibble Creek Rock Ltd was established in Alaska in 1984 by Clif and Cheryl Shafer and has specialized in quality washed gravel products for over 25 years. DCR continues to provide a wide variety of gravel, ready-mixed concrete, precast concrete, pumping, and more.

Our work

Since forming in 2009, AKMX has completed 10 material crushing contracts throughout the State of Alaska for Alaska Department of Transportation as well as other general contractors in the State. Currently, AKMX holds three multi-year USACE contracts for maintenance dredging throughout Alaska. AKMX also has experience with tug and barge chartering operations that has resulted in over 20 successful charters requiring typical marine logistics.
